In 2004, 2005 and 2006, Kuluin participated in the ‘Preparing for School’ Trial. Being a trial school for Prep gave Kuluin an opportunity to fine tune our Prep program to what it is today.
The preparatory year program differs from the previous part-time preschool program in three important ways.
- Children attend five full days a week,
- It involves an older age group of children (turning 5 by 30 June), and
- Teachers follow the new ‘Early Years’ Curriculum.
The preparatory class caters for a maximum of 25 students who are involved in structured and play based activities designed to facilitate developing their early literacy and numeracy skills in a social and communicative environment.
When can my child enrol in Preparatory Year and Year 1?
Children born on or after 1 January 2002 will be eligible for the new preparatory year of schooling before enrolling in Year 1. They will need to be five by 30 June in the year they start in the preparatory class.
