Tubing, jet skiing, canoeing, archery, rockwall climbing, go-cart building and riding, crazy games and laser zone was part of a full on week for 24 boys on the first week of the holidays at “King of the Mountain” camp held at Dunethin rock. Five boys came from Kuluin and by the end of the week they were thoroughly worn out but had a good time doing it.
The next camp is called “Summer Splash” which will be in the second week in January at Bribie Island for grade 5-7girls and boys. Flyers will be out around mid term for what is another fun packed camp.
Last term a new program called bike-fix commenced and now is in its fifth week. Eight boys from grade six are being coached in basic bike maintenance by Rod Holt from Program Connect. Cameron Douglas a youth worker and I have been helping and are excited to see the boys pick up some new skills. We are aiming to do up a bike and give it away. We hope to continue this program next year so if you are interested in bikes and would like to be involved feel free to call me.
Last Wednesday our breakfast program kicked off with some delicious fruit and toast which was enjoyed by many students. A special thanks to all those who helped serve on the day and a special note of thanks to Cocos at Maroochydore for providing the fruit and the North Buderim Supermarket for donating the bread and the spreads. At this stage we hope to continue this every Wednesday from 8:15 to 8:45 outside the SEU building. If you are interesting in helping please give me a call.
