During the last vacation, Sally Doyle, our Teacher Librarian competed in the “2009 Na Wahine O Ke Ka” Outrigger Marathon in Hawaii. She competed in the Women's Masters event, covering a distance of 72km in 6 hours, 14 minutes and 56 seconds.
Just to have the opportunity to participate in an even such as this is significant in itself. Not only did Sally compete but her team won a Silver Medal, after finishing in second place. Sally was the steerer and she pulled her hamstring part way through the race but continued on to beat many other teams from around the world including the Sunshine Coast based Team Curry Australia who were placed third.
Well done Sally, the whole of The Kuluin School community say congratulations on a super effort. This is a true model and example to our students of what one can achieve with persistence, determination and commitment. Congratulations!
