Clean Up Schools Day PDF Print E-mail

This Friday the 29th of February the students of the Kuluin School will be getting down on bended knee to pick up rubbish as part of the Clean Up Australia Day campaign. All students will be involved in this community awareness activity that aims to not just make the school look better than ever, but also help students become more aware of the horrible effects of too much waste on the environment.

This year we will also be sorting the rubbish into plastic, paper and food scraps and disposing of them correctly. We will be putting what rubbish we can in the recycle bin and placing food scraps in the compost bins at our school.

Students will need to bring a hat, gloves and a bucket to school on Friday to take part.

Why not check out our promotional video for Clean Up Day starring some of our wonderful students.

Music Support Group PDF Print E-mail

The Music Support Group is, as the name suggests, a group made up of parents and friends who want to support and promote music at Kuluin. One of our aims is to raise funds to help the Music department with equipment, instruments and music. Over the past 10 years we have raised thousands of dollars and some of your children are using instruments today thanks to the efforts of our group.

Our next meeting is next Monday, 3rd March, at the home of Jenni Miller, 5 Jack's Lane, Buderim at 7.30 pm. Please come along and enjoy a cuppa and cake, and contribute to our plans for the year. Our group is very informal and we have no official office bearers. We are all busy parents giving just a little of our time. You will be most welcome.

Support-A-Reader Volunteers Needed PDF Print E-mail
The Learning Support Team is on the lookout for Volunteers for the Support-a-Reader Program.

The Support-a-Reader program is an intensive reading program for students who experience difficulties with reading. The program enables trained tutors to read with students in a one-to-one situation practicing reading strategies and targeting comprehension.

The “puffed out” chests and “smiling faces” seen at the end of children’s sessions are indicators of the confidence these children are gaining through this reading program.

If you are already a volunteer – thank you!

If you have been a volunteer in the past and would like to volunteer again please let us know.

If you are interested in becoming involved as a Support-a-Reader volunteer please let us know and keep an eye on the newsletter for upcoming training sessions.
