Overdue library books

Overdue notices were sent home last week. With only 2 weeks before holidays we would like all of these books returned to the Library. Could you please assist your child/ren in locating their library books and returning them as soon as possible.

At present we have in excess of 250 library books overdue, this equates to approximately $2,500. This would be a good opportunity to remind everyone to encourage their children to keep all books in their library bags in a special place so when it comes to borrowing day, they know exactly where their books are. Encourage students to become self-sufficient with this and become responsible for their bags and books.

It is Kuluin State School Resource Centre policy, for all lost and damaged library books to be paid for as our budget does not cover huge losses such as these. Students are able to borrow over these holidays, however at the end of term 4 all resources need to be returned to the library for stocktake.

Holiday fun

This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to take part in an illustrators workshop run by renowned author and illustrator Peter Carnavas. He will be running an hour long workshop for school students on the first Monday of the school holidays, 23 September. We have many of Peter’s books in the library (Last Tree In The City, The Important Thing, Jessica’s Box, The Children Who Loved Books and
Mr. Darcy) He has been a presenter at Voices on the Coast on numerous occasions.
This is a free workshop and if anyone is interested flyers are available in the library. The workshop will be held at the Nambour Library in Currie Street. There is no charge for the workshop however places will be limited so you will need to book as soon as possible, by either going to their website: www.library.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au and look for Kids, then School Holiday Activities, alternatively Phone: 1300 542727
