Parent Workshop - Managing Anxiety for Children

27/04/2017
Anxiety is increasingly identified as one of the leading causes of problems amongst school aged children.  Whilst anxiety is common throughout society, its impact on children has a significant effect upon their capacity to profit from their time at school.

This interactive session is intended to provide a simple “working model” of anxiety. The session is not intended to be a lecture but to provide an opportunity to better understand anxiety and learn some basic management strategies that might be helpful.

The Kuluin School works closely with the Sunshine Coast Child and Youth Mental Health Service and this opportunity is a shared initiative between the school and SCCYMHS.  The presenter, John Pearson, is a psychologist with many years experience in working with families and children and is the SCCYMHS Team Leader

School refusal, separation anxiety, attention difficulties, anger and aggression, obsessional behaviour and nervousness are all problems that might be anxiety based.  If you have children with these kinds of problems this session might be helpful in assisting you to understand and manage better.

If you would like to attend please retister your interest at the office.
