Position - Tuckshop Convenor Location   -  Kuluin SS
Start Date  - Week beginning 10/07/2017
Salary  Parents and Citizens Association Award – State 2016- Retail Operations Stream – Classification: Retail Manager: $20.22 - $21.18 (grade paid on qualification)
Status -  Part time
Hours - 18 Hours per week (Paid over 3 days) and 2 hours per week (Voluntary) with the potential to increase hours as the business grows.  3 months Probationary Period.
 

ROLE OF THIS POSITION:
To manage the day to day operation of the Kuluin School tuckshop and be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the tuckshop in accordance with the policies and direction as determined by the Kuluin School Parents and Citizens Association.
The successful applicant must be available to work Wednesday to Friday, 8:00am – 2:30pm (Paid hours) and 2 hours Voluntary (to be negotiated) per week.
The Kuluin School wishes to operate an economically viable tuckshop that provides healthy and nutritious food to students, parents and staff in line with Smart Choices Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy and Queensland Association of School Tuckshops Inc.
This position functions within a fast-paced team environment and within strict food safety and hygiene requirements to deliver quality food and service to students, parents, and staff at the Kuluin School. 
The tuckshop convenor reports directly to the Kuluin P&C executive committee.
DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:
* To ensure that the tuckshop provides a healthy food service in accordance with Queensland Association of School Tuckshops to the school community, whilst maintaining an efficient and profitable business.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills;
* Passion to deliver excellent customer service; 
* Stock ordering, receipt of stock, food storage, cleaning, banking, stock takes, general daily duties;
* Sales and processing of orders;
* Assist with budget development and meet set targets;
* Food preparation including baking and cooking;
* Point of sale/cash register system and cash handling;
 * Flexi schools ordering system;
* Build a good relationship with voluntary workers and encourage a team spirit;
* Assist with recruitment of volunteers;
* Supervise and train volunteers;
* Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Hygiene Regulations and current Occupational health and Safety (OH&S) regulations;
* Voluntary hours and assistance at school events;
* Provide feedback and advice to the P&C executive on the successful running of the business operation;
* Attend monthly P&C general meetings.
SELECTION CRITERIA
SC1. Possess organisational and financial skills necessary to operate a school canteen (as a business)
SC2. Relevant qualifications and/or experience in a similar role.
SC3. Knowledge of/or ability to learn quickly about
·         Stock control and ordering
·         Menu planning, food preparation and food hygiene standards
·         Nutrition as it applies to school lunches
·         Smart choices – Healthy food and drink strategy for Queensland schools
SC4. Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to relate to a wide range of people including staff, volunteers, students and other members of the school community.
SC5. Ability to supervise and train volunteers as part of the overall tuckshop team
The successful applicant must have or be willing to obtain before commencing employment,
1.A blue card (working with children police check.
2. A formal qualification in food handling and or/ food safety.
