Special education program

The special education program (SEP) is an integral part of the Kuluin school. The role of the special education program is to facilitate and support the regular curricula offerings of the school for students with disabilities.

Low incidence disability areas cover:

  • intellectual impairment

  • autistic spectrum disorder

  • hearing impairment

  • visual impairment

  • speech-language impairment.

  • physical impairment

A range of support options are offered to meet the diverse needs of individual students. These options are discussed with parents at various times throughout the year. Students who access support from the special education program have met education Queensland criteria in one or more disability categories and participate in an education adjustment program (EAP). These students are individually case managed by SEP teachers and are supported inclusively within the school setting by teachers and teacher aides in accordance with their individual needs.
