At The Kuluin School we value the continued support of all of our parents and volunteers. We also welcome any new parents or community members, who can spare some time, to enhance the education of our students.
The interest shown by you in your child's progress can make an incredible difference in their approach to learning. We urge you to make every effort to provide a consistent approach in your child's education.
This can be achieved by assisting in some of the classroom activities. By working with the teachers, you can ensure that your child is getting the best possible education. Training/instruction is provided in all areas if required.
Listed below are some of the activities you are able to assist with:
Changing readers and listening to students read
Support Maths activities
Language, comprehension and writing activities
Keyboard skills (mostly supervision of set program)
Basic computer assistance
Support-a-Reader and Support-a-Writer programs
Cooking
Art and craft activities
Assist in our Enrichment Centre - children with special needs (reading, playing educational games, computer supervision, singing).
There are also other areas in the school that we require assistance:
Re-shelving, covering or loaning books in the Resource Centre
Newsletter production - typing, photocopying, sorting into class pigeon holes
Tuckshop (lunch is provided)
Gardening - planting, weeding and watering
Craft group - making mother’s day and father's day items
Coach a sport in which you are skilled
Fundraising activities
You can also offer your services as a resource person if you have a special knowledge or expertise which may be of use in a teaching program e.g. guest speaker.
Take the time to share in your child's learning, and become involved in a wonderful school environment. Even an hour a week can make a difference.
Remember, everyone has something to offer!
